About us

idrottsforum.org [sports forum] is a Nordic Sport Science web journal, publishing scientific and popular science articles on sport science and sport science research from a social science and humanistics perspective. The journal also publishes book reviews of Nordic and International literature in a wider sense associated with sport science and sport science research. The published texts focus the reciprocal interplay between sports and society, not least their respective norm systems. Authors tend to come from academic disciplines such as Sociology, Sociology of Law, Education and Learning, Psychology, Media and Communication Science; Philosophy, History, Ethnology; Business Economics; and Law.

idrottsforum.org addresses researchers, teachers and students within sport science and sport science research, athletes, sport managers and sport officials within the practical applications of sport, as well as all individuals with a genuine interest in sports, and wants to be an intermediary between the scientists of sports, the practicians and the public. idrottsforum.org is published by the Centre for Studies in Sport Sciences at Malmö University. In addition to it being a research resource, the journal’s aim is to disseminate scientific knowledge to the general public.

idrottsforum.org was published on the Internet on June 6, 2003, and is updated fortnightly with a completely revised front page, and usually two new article and at least five new book reviews. All published articles and book reviews are always a mere click away from the front page. The navigation logic of idrottsforum.org is such that the front page is always open; all links open up new pages. Hence, please bookmark the front page [löpsedeln].

idrottsforum.org is registered at the periodic publication department of the Swedish Royal Library with the ISSN 1652–7224. ISSN (International Standard Serial Number) is an international system for numbering continuous resources with a view to keeping a register of such resources. The Central International ISSN Registry is situated in Paris, and presently over 75 national central registers have been established across the globe.

idrottsforum.org invites writers to participate. Send an e-mail to the Editor including brief information about yourself and your proposed contribution. Articles should not normally exceed 5–6,000 words, reviews should be around 800–1,000 words. Feature articles might range between 600 and 3.000 words. Manuscripts will be reviewed by parts of or the whole editorial board. Prospective contributors are encouraged to make use of the medium of Internet by including links, pictures and videos in the text.
